Contemporary art from Hungary
The exhibition “.szimpla..dupla…” in the Artists’ House (“Künstlerhaus”) offers a fascinating insight into Hungarian contemporary art. From 9 April to 30 May 2010, Hungarian artists are showing installations and works that have been especially selected for this Dortmund exhibition space.
The emphasis will be on room installations by artists from the contemporary Hungarian scene: video installations, mural drawings, wood environments, memory structures – all these will enable the visitor to gain a new perspective on Hungarian art. The exhibition will be curated by the Artists’ House members Hannes Woidich and Willi Otremba, who, together with the guest curator Szolga Hajnal, visited artists in their studios in Pécs and Budapest to choose works for the exhibition.
The title of the collective exhibition is the name of a Hungarian children’s counting rhyme and stands not only for the beginning represented by this exhibition project but also for a continued artistic exchange. Taking part are Zsolt Tibor (drawing with projection, installation), Anna Baróthy / Szövetség'39 (mural drawings), Csenge Kolozsvári / Szövetség'39 (installation), Marianna Szabó (installation), Hajnalka Tarr (drawing), Ádám Kokesch (plastic installation), István Csákány (installation) and Barbara Follárd (video).
