International Networks

By 2050, two-thirds of the world's population will live in cities, according to the United Nations forecast. Already today, urban centers are of utmost importance, and current global challenges – climate change, migration, income disparities, housing shortages – are often concentrated there. Cities are global players and have a major influence on how global challenges are tackled.

International networks support this process through knowledge exchange and best practice examples, encouraging city administrations to take bolder and faster steps. Networks also represent municipal interests and positions to international institutions, highlighting the needs and experiences of municipalities, thus giving them greater political weight.

The City of Dortmund is involved in numerous European and international networks.
