Research in Dortmund: scientific establishments

With its 54,000 students, seven universities, around 20 non-university research institutes and several other scientific establishments, Dortmund is an important site for research in the Ruhr Region.

Within the context of the "Masterplan Science Dortmund" the following list has been developed and comprises the publicly-funded universities as well as the universities in Dortmund accredited by the Science Council.

The list also includes the institutes belonging to the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft, the Leibniz Association, and the Max-Planck-Society, as well as the scientific members of "windo e.V." and the "Wissenschaftsforum Ruhr".
