Hula Workshop

Angela Habermann

Do you want to move in the rhythm of Hawaii?

This is a dance routine for all ages - no previous dancing skills are required.

Hula is the dance of the Hawaiian people.

With your hands, you will perform moves that tell stories: of the beautiful nature, of the people and of love (Aloha), of course. Traditional dancing steps enhance the performance and add to the story being told.

We dance barefoot (socks are o.k., too), wearing comfortable clothes and - should you own one - a shawl or pareo around the hips.

Duration: approx. 60 minutes

Ukulele Workshop - Hula on Uke

Frank Gerstmeier

Frank presents two traditional Hulas in his workshop. These pretty and catchy songs tell of Hawaii and the soul of the uke. Simple chords and traditional techniques complement each other. To ensure a complete experience of these songs, there will be singing, too. There is a Hula dancing workshop taking place simultaneously, where the Hulas we will be playing are being danced to. Finally, musicians and dancers will meet on stage for an extraordinary performance of music and dance in the true Hawaiian Hula style.
