Six highways take you to Dortmund in no time

Whether you’re coming from Hamburg or Cologne. The A 1 provides the ideal connection to Dortmund. Arriving from the west (the Netherlands) or the east (Berlin, Poland, Baltic States) the A 2 will lead you directly to Dortmund.

The A 40 is one of the main arterial roads of the Ruhr Area. It begins at the border of the Netherlands and is an important route in the direction of Duisburg, Essen and Dortmund. Another main arterial road in the Ruhr Area is the A 42, also known as the "Emscher express route."

The A 44 is used by visitors coming from Thuringia and Hessen but also for reaching Dortmund from the Netherlands and Belgium. The A 45 (Sauerland line), as the most important north-south axis, connects the Rhine-Main Area and the south of Germany as well as Europe to Dortmund.
